Map of Arts Venues

Parking? Easy! Know Before the Show.

Did you know there are 2650 parking spaces less than a 5 minute walk from the Union Theater and most campus Performing Arts venues?

Nearby lots include: Lot 1 between Memorial Union and the Red Gym, Lot 6 (2 levels) located right next to the Union Theater below Helen C. White library, Lot 7 below Grainger Hall, Lot 46 on the corner of Lake and Johnson, Lot 83 below the Fluno Center, and the Cities State Street Garage (known as the Lake Street Parking Ramp).

Best of all, BEFORE you arrive, you can check how many spots are available in these locations in REAL TIME.  Check the locations labeled EAST CAMPUS for the locations nearest the theater.

Follow the “map it” link on this page, it will open Google maps and give directions to the ramps.

It is also possible to check the parking available at the State Street Campus Garage (located on Lake Street).

Park for FREE at meters on Lake/Langdon Streets after 6pm and all day Sunday!

Update: WIAA Tournament to shift some parking permits

Update: Conversion to Parkmobile Parking Meter System

UW Faculty and Staff with campus parking permits have access to surface lots for FREE after 4:30pm.  Convenient lots for campus performing arts venues include:  3, 5, 8, 9, 10, 44, and 45, all of which are highlighted in yellow between University Ave. and Langdon/Observatory on the map.

Annual Evening Permits are available to anyone.  Valid for one year (September 1st to August 31st, prorated depending on time of purchase) and allow parking after 4:30pm on weekdays and all day on weekends.  The cost is $125 for access to all surface lots, $40 for a specific garage. More information is available on the Transportation Services website.

The early bird gets the worm!  Keep in mind, on several days the Badger Basketball and Hockey schedules overlap with performances, limiting the number of spots available.  On those nights in particular we recommend arriving early to ensure a stress-free parking experience!

Handicapped accessible spaces near Memorial Union are available at lots 1, 6, 7, 46, and 83, also at State Street Campus Garage and metered spaces on Langdon Street.

Other great ways to access the theater are through biking, walking, or bussing.  The city of Madison has fantastic commuter routes which make biking easy, and there is plenty of bike parking available.  If you would like to bike or take the bus, use Google Maps and click on the Bus/Bicycle icon for directions.
